Byron Bay High School
(Background)

Millions of years ago, in a time long forgotten dolphins would play in the ocean, jumping up and down over the waves. Trees would tower high into the air, their gnarled limbs reaching for the stars. Reptiles would lay sun baking on large rocks while sea-eagles would fly up above. Young Bunjalung children would go hunting for fish in the ocean. This is what life was like before Byron High School.

Sacred Aboriginal Meeting Place

Byron Bay Hig School was built near an Aboriginal meeting place. Aboriginals of the Bunjalung tribe would gathers at a lake near the foundations of our school. It would grieve me to see it littered with rubbish and plastic. If we don't make changes soon, the meeting place could one day be lost for generations to come.
